Winona-Ryder

Winona Laura Horowitz professionally known in the media as Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. The parents of Winona Ryder named her for her hometown. Michel Horowitz' father was an editor and writer along with Cynthia Palmer and her mother. Ryder's father and mother are both Jewish. Ryder believes herself to being Jewish. The actress has a younger brother Uria and two half-siblings Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's family moved from Mendocino County in California, when she was just seven. There, they didn't have electricity. Ryder, who read a lot aged 12, became a bookworm since Ryder had no access to television. Ryder started taking classes in acting at the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983, when she was 12 years old. Lucas, a 1986 film which was her first big character. Ryder was only 15 at the time she was cast. Ryder faced bullying during her teenage years. Her hope was that the acting profession would alter that. However, it didn't take place. But that didn't stop her following her dreams. In 1988, she received her big break in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder was later cast in successful roles. She was nominated for two Academy Awards one for her role as a character in The Age of Innocence (1993).
